Community Reinvestment Act of 1977

The Community Reinvestment Act of 1977 (C.R.A.) is implemented by regulations of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (O.C.C.), the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System (BOARD), and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).  C.R.A. directs the agencies to encourage insured depository institutions to help meet the credit needs of the communities in which they are chartered. C.R.A. does not prohibit any activity, nor is it intended ti encourage unsafe or unsound lending practices or the allocation of credit. C.R.A. requires that each insured depository institution’s record in helping to meet the credit needs of its entire community, including low-to-moderate income neighborhoods, be assessed periodically. Inspiring Greatness acts as a liaison or resource to local banks to introduce those new bankers to DFW to businesses, non-profit organizations, and the community in order to fulfill their C.R.A. strategic plans.
